Book Review

When I started Great Expectations, I didn’t enjoy it at all. It is particularly hard to get into and it is mostly a boring read. However, I once I understood what I was reading, I found the plot interesting and clever. The novel also portrays an important message, which has been around for decades. The message is about reaching for high goals but not getting lost in them; it’s about remembering to be pleased with what you have. I think that people of all ages should read this book, because of the lesson that it portrays and also because the plot isn’t boring. Just because one should read it doesn’t mean I think that you could relate to it. I think that it is hard for many people to relate to this book because it was written so many years ago.  For example, people today don’t have benefactors and probably many people don’t know what that is. The English in the book is very old and is not what most people are custom to. However I think that, that is another reason to read the book. It gives people the knowledge of learning to understand every kind of book. Even though this book is an ambitious read, in the long run it is worthwhile.
